Obituary of Carole Hughes Summer

Obituary for Carole H Summer

"I am going to meet the king, Alleluia, Alleluia." Carole Summer, born July 8th, 1934 in upstate New York passed away peacefully on the 21st of June, 2018. In her words she was "ready to meet Jesus". She was our most beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and teacher. She is survived by her "Prince"(husband), Bill Summer, her three children, Simone, William and Stephen, daughters in law and grandchildren. She loved swimming in the beautiful turquoise blue sea of her home in St. Thomas, along with spending numerous hours growing delicious arugula, tomatoes, sweet peppers, basil and more. She enjoyed painting her island surroundings which usually included the view from the deck of the sea and hills along with playing the violin. She was a reading teacher for many years in St. Thomas and years later grown students would come up to her in grocery stores or banks, give her a hug and say, " I learned to read because of you". She approached much of life's troubles with a positive phrase, a smile and her firm Catholic faith. Her daily dedication to prayer and meditation while having coffee on the deck with her "Prince" along with praying the rosary with her prayer group was something she took great solace in. Her spoken gratitude as she watched the sunrise brought a calm to her soul and a sparkle to her eyes. "I am going to the Lord."

Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm on Wednesday, June 27th at Moss Feaster Funeral Home in Clearwater.

A Funeral Mass will begin at 11 am at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church on Thursday, June 28th.
